We currently manage Cherokee lands to benefit a diversity of species. As of August 2017, a new forest management plan was approved for EBCI lands. This plan includes timber stand improvement with consideration for wildlife and non-timber forest products as well as the return of fire to the landscape. Currently, we maintain over 40 wildlife openings with a mix of annual and perennial plants to create early successional habitat for both game and nongame wildlife.

Management actions include:

  • Develop and manage wildlife openings
  • Provide technical assistance to inform forest management
